Atlantic DESIGN Studio
..........is a design brand set up by myself, Lou Gillett, primarily through my love of contemporary design, drawing and making. My background of working for over three decades as a designer and architect has naturally led to experimentation with new ideas, materials, forms and textures. Over 20 years ago I took night school courses classes to learn the skills to create my own bespoke jewellery. This is where my love of making silver really began and I am still fascinated by many different design philosophies, from clean sharp lines to free-flowing organic forms; all from the potential of a single material and often using ancient techniques. From a small child I loved delving into a jewellery box, in teenage years I spent all my hard earned Saturday cash on the marvellous loud statement jewellery of the 80's. Looking back it really is no surprise that my specialist area of work is sculptural stylistic signature jewellery. My work is highly reflective and unique but above all is designed so it can be worn with any outfit and enjoyed at any time of the day. Most pieces are minimal yet have high impact through reflectiveness or texture and have worked well on a fashion catwalk. I am a firm believer that statement pieces can be worn in the daytime as well as the evening and that they give enjoyment to all those that wear them. Atlantic DESIGN Studio is not just about jewellery but DESIGN of all types. Since being a small child, I have always loved to draw and paint and in parallel have continued this throughout my adult life. I now produces original art, framed prints, greeting cards as well as one off 3D wall art. I am always working on new collections and ranges which are launched through this website and my social media channels. My web store has lots of new and unique products so do take a look and I would love you to sign up to my newsletter for special offers or news of our pop-up shops. Feel free to contact me to discuss 'bespoke commissions' and collaborative projects. I am always up for a design challenge of any sort. Thanks for visiting my website, I hope you find it interesting.
